In a follow up to last week’s video excerpt, this post has Linda Alepin discussing how companies which understand the importance of women leadership can get started on executing their vision.
Linda points out that any women leadership development effort should start with encouraging women to aspire to be leaders. The first step in the process could be as simple as letting high potential women candidates know they are being viewed as future leaders in the organization and that the company will invest in training them to become what they need to be. An important next step that often gets overlooked is the need to provide the challenge and push these candidates towards leadership excellence. Kid gloves don’t help anyone realize and fulfill their potential. The third aspect Linda touches on is the role of mentor relationships and how they can help shape great leaders, both women and men.
